GIS Analyst

Visionary Communications, LLC is seeking a qualified individual for the role of GIS Analyst. This full-time, salaried position will be part of Visionary’s internal GIS team, reporting to the GIS Manager. The role can be remote from Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida, with preference for candidates based in Durango, Canon City, Gunnison, or Englewood in Colorado, or Gillette, Sheridan, Cheyenne, or Casper in Wyoming.

Job Overview:

• The GIS Analyst will collaborate with multiple teams to obtain, analyze, and utilize GIS data for fiber and wireless broadband projects, primarily focusing on data integration and vetting from various platforms, and building maintainable FME workspaces in a QGIS and FME environment.
• Experience with telecom OSP principles, procedures in fiber and fixed wireless environments, and familiarity with API calls will be advantageous.
• Reports to: GIS Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design fiber builds by analyzing datasets at various government levels and internal sources.
• Maintain accurate plant maps and data, including partner assets like duct, conduit, strand, lines, and poles.
• Assist sales and marketing teams by identifying prospective customers and integrating mobile app data into GIS.
• Support wireless coverage modeling and tower opportunity analysis.
• Coordinate with regulatory teams on reporting requirements.
• Analyze grant opportunities and support application and reporting processes.
• Promote GIS adoption and facilitate data access within the company.
• Train staff on GIS tools and software.

Qualifications:

• Degree in GIS, Cartography, Geography, Remote Sensing, or related field; or equivalent experience (e.g., 3 years).
• At least 2 years of experience with FME.
• 1-2 years of experience with geospatial databases like PostgreSQL.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, detail-oriented.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and system design skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quick learner of proprietary applications.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with FME Flow, PostgreSQL administration, web mapping platforms (QGIS, OpenLayers).
• Familiarity with VETRO FiberMap, FOND, Cloud-RF, HubSpot, Sonar, Monday, MerginMaps.

Physical Requirements:

Primarily sedentary work involving computer use, with less than 10% fieldwork in various weather conditions, including lifting items under 25 lbs. Visual and auditory acuity essential.
