Job summary

New Heights Charter School of Brockton is seeking a Girls’ Varsity Basketball Head Coach. Under the Athletic Director, you will develop a competitive, disciplined program emphasizing fundamental skills, game strategy, and physical training to achieve team success.

You will model inclusion and sportsmanship, mentor student-athletes, and collaborate with JV and middle school coaches to ensure program alignment and continuity across levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Member of National Federation of High Schools Coaches Association (NFHS).
• Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, techniques, tactics and player development.
• Experience coaching and/or playing basketball.
• Experience working with diverse student-athlete populations in an educational setting.
• Ability to teach, mentor and motivate student-athletes toward academic, athletic and personal success.
• Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to collaborate with coaches, athletic department personnel, school administrators and families.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet vehicle operation requirements.
• Background checks and screenings required.
• CPR, AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before season).
• Completion of MIAA coaching education requirements including Concussion Training.

Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach at New Heights Charter School of Brockton

Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director, the Girls’ Varsity Basketball head coach is responsible for developing a competitive, disciplined, and character-driven basketball program. The coach will teach fundamental skills, develop game strategies, and implement physical training necessary for individual and team success. Additionally, the coach must emphasize and model behaviors that promote inclusion, character development, self-discipline, teamwork, self-confidence, and sportsmanship. This position collaborates with JV and middle school coaches to ensure consistency and alignment throughout the program.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Girls’ Varsity Basketball program under the supervision of the Athletic Director, focusing on developing a competitive, disciplined, and character-driven program.
• Teach fundamental basketball skills, develop game strategies, and implement physical training for individual and team success.
• Model and promote inclusion, character development, self-discipline, teamwork, self-confidence, and sportsmanship.
• Collaborate with junior varsity and middle school coaches to ensure consistency and alignment across the program.

• Previous coaching and/or playing experience in basketball.
• Experience working with diverse student-athlete populations in an educational setting.

• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, athletic department personnel, school administrators, and families.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet the institution's requirements for operating school vehicles.
• Successful completion of all required background checks and employment screenings.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification prior to the start of the season (must be provided to the Athletic Director).
• Completion of all required MIAA coaching education requirements, including Concussion Education Training (must be provided to the Athletic Director).
