Qualifications

  • Maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities in safe condition.
  • Supervise student behavior from arrival to departure and ensure a safe environment.
  • Attend annual HHS coaches meetings and review handbooks as required.

Job Overview

Season starts: November 30, 2026 – February 19, 2027

Salary: up to $2,500 stipend.

Position type: Afterschool/Evening.

Statement of Duties
  • Promote loyalty, leadership, dedication, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, cooperation, and personal responsibility.
  • Build a strong program culture aligned with core values for the Merrimack Valley Conference.
  • Implement codes of conduct for coaches, players, and parents.
  • Arrive before student‑athlete arrival and departure times.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of game rules and educate coaches and student‑athletes, including Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) rules.
  • Develop appropriate training programs and practice sessions.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
  • Travel with student‑athletes on the team bus to and from games.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basketball strategies and rules.
  • Adhere to financial policies for collection, disbursement, and expense handling.
  • Work with athletic trainers and complete injury reports within 24 hours.
  • Maintain required records and complete team and individual statistics in a timely manner.
  • Ensure collection of physical, attendance, parent consent, and medical information before season start.
  • Enforce Haverhill School Committee and Student Handbook policies.
  • Supervise student behavior from arrival to departure, on field, in locker room, on buses, and at games.
  • Maintain a safe environment and facilities for all student athletes.
  • Attend annual HHS all‑Coaches meeting.
  • Review HHS Coaches Handbook annually.
  • Sign Massachusetts Anti‑Hazing Law Form annually.
  • Commit to protecting student athletes from inappropriate conduct.
  • Enforce all sport‑related rules in all venues.
  • Have substantial knowledge of technical aspects and procedures relevant to basketball, including MIAA rules.
  • Work professionally and friendly with students, teachers, parents, administrators, boosters, media, officials, and the school community.
  • Report disciplinary issues immediately to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Athletic Director, Principal, or superintendent.
Qualifications
