Qualifications

• CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certification required; online CPR certifications not accepted, hands-on skills assessment required; DOE-certified course preferred.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching must be completed prior to first employment as a coach.
• Annual NFHS Training Requirements include NFHS Concussion in Sports and NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest courses.
• One-Time NFHS Training: BeNice Program.
• Department of Education (DOE) certification: valid NJ Teaching Certification or NJ Instructional Substitute Credential (≥30 college credits).

Responsibilities

• Daily Execution: Assist the Head Coach with daily practices, games, and tournaments.
• Regulations & Compliance: Follow federal laws, NJ DOE guidelines, NJSIAA rules, and school policies.
• Medical Clearance: Ensure only athletes cleared by the school nurse participate.
• Asset Accountability: Distribute, track, and collect uniforms.
• Fundraising Support: Support program-specific fundraising activities as directed.
• Safety & Emergency Readiness: Follow emergency protocols and safety drills.
• Travel Supervision: Travel with the team and supervise athletes during away events.
• Off-Season & Pipeline: Assist with off-season conditioning and youth clinic outreach.
• Meeting Attendance: Attend league/conference meetings when required.
