Job summary

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a full-time Gifts Officer to join our Development Team. You will build relationships with donors, manage a portfolio, and coordinate donor communications to advance fundraising goals.

The role requires regular office presence in Eagan with some remote work flexibility and occasional evening/weekend events. Salary range and bonus are provided for external candidates, with a supportive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Library Science, or related field.
  • Five or more years of fundraising experience may substitute for a degree.
  • One to five years of fundraising experience in a not-for-profit setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with individuals, families, sponsors, and other resources to increase giving.
  • Serve as ambassador interfacing with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders while managing donor information and providing excellent service.
  • Collaborate on donor recognition, annual fund planning, major gifts, and events related to donor portfolio.

Gifts Officer

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a full-time Gifts Officer to join our Development Team! The Gifts Officer is responsible for building relationships with prospects and current donors who have the capacity and/or interest in donating to People Incorporated. The relationship consists of, but is not limited by, stewardship of financial gifts in the form of general donations, legacy gifts, multiple year gifts, estate/planned giving, annual fund gifts and other complex gift arrangements.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, regular business hours, with flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend donor events

Location: Regular presence is required at People Incorporated's main office in Eagan. This position will also be mobile in the community and have some flexibility to work remotely part-time.

Hiring Range: $72,000 - $78,500 annual salary plus $1,000 hiring bonus for external candidates

Main Job Duties:
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with individuals, families, family foundations, sponsors, and other resources that result in increased and/or maintained giving by educating them on our mission and making personal and regular contact to support annual advancement of goals.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization interfacing with program staff, volunteers, executives, board, and other stakeholders while managing and facilitating requests for information and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborate with Development Team members on donor recognition, annual fund planning, major gifts, core ask, the development of annual goals, and special events related to donor portfolio and donor cultivation/stewardship strategies.
  • Manage the data and information associated with portfolio and all related donors, assuring continuity of information about the donor is up to date in the database.
Education and Experience:
  • Preference for bachelor's degree in communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Library Science or related field or four years in a related role.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, five or more years of prior fundraising, development, or community engagement experience may be substituted.
  • One to five years prior fundraising experience within a not-for-profit organization.
  • Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts from a wide range of donors.
  • Prior donor database experience.
  • Demonstrated advancement experience within a mission driven organization that provides services to those with needs.
Preferred Experience:
  • Proven gift asks of $50,000 or more, and proven secured gifts.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals or principal level donors.
  • Working knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets, and estates.
  • Salesforce experience
  • Demonstrated advancement experience within an organization that provides services to those with mental health needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage through change and growth of an organization
