Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education is seeking a Gifted Education Teacher to provide high-quality instruction for gifted students and to help them reach their maximum potential. The role reports to the Principal and requires a valid Alabama teaching certificate in Special Education/Gifted, a bachelor’s degree or higher, and strong communication and collaboration skills.

The teacher will design and implement curriculum for GEP, monitor progress, maintain confidential records, and engage families

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in Special Education/Gifted.
• Previous successful teaching experience.
• Possess and maintain valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with collaboration across diverse groups.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum for gifted students.
• Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data and reports.
• Physical strength, mobility, and stamina to perform duties.
• Punctual and regular attendance.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Responsibilities

• Establishes a positive classroom climate and effectively manages gifted instruction.
• Models appropriate and innovative use of technology for students and staff.
• Uses technology as a teaching tool to plan and provide instruction.
• Provides quality gifted education experiences and tracks individual student progress.
• Familiarizes with the curriculum and plans lessons accordingly.
• Evaluates student progress against course objectives and grades.
• Maintains gifted records in SETSWeb and GEP folders.
• Assists in curriculum development for GEP program.
• Attends eligibility meetings for students in the service area.
• Conducts parent GEP meetings per guidelines.
• Interprets test results for planning and communication with parents.
• Supervises students during assigned duties and activities.
• Participates in state/local professional development.
