Job summary

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the Gift Shop, including buying, receiving and pricing merchandise.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors, meeting with them independently or with hospital staff.
• Complete recurring orders and price new merchandise using the point of sale system; assist sales associates with data entry of daily sales.
• Schedule staff and volunteers; ensure merchandising is attractive and stock is maintained on the floor.
• Provide superior customer service and assist customers in making purchases.

Description

The Gift Shop Manager is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the Gift Shop. Responsibilities include buying, receiving and the pricing of the merchandise. The manager will meet with vendors independently or in conjunction with another hospital representative to evaluate merchandise for possible purchase. Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with vendors. May involve travel to buy merchandise. Completes recurring orders and prices new merchandise using the point of sale computer software. Completes and helps assist sales associates with data entry of daily sales. Completes staff and volunteer schedules. Demonstrates superior customer service skills when greeting and interacting with customers and when assisting them in making purchases. Displays merchandise throughout the shop in a pleasing manner, keeping display shelves dusted/cleaned, maintains an appropriate amount of stock on floor available for purchase. Must have professional image and exceptional customer service skills. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task.

Position Requirements

• Education: High School graduate preferred and some college desired.
