Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a Gastroenterology Technologist (GI Tech) to provide patient care under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse. The GI Tech performs duties within scope of practice and follows best practice guidelines established by the gastroenterology profession.

Key responsibilities include assisting with gowning, room setup, instrument handling, sterilization, and specimen management.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Prior GI Tech and/or Operating Room Technician (ORT) experience preferred.
• BLS/BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assists procedure team with gowning, gloving, and eye protection to perform patient procedures.
• Prepares procedure room and ensures availability of supplies and equipment.
• Maintains and disinfects supplies and equipment; handles specimens per policy.
• Pre-cleans, disinfects, and stores endoscopes per guidelines.
• Performs sterilization processes and uses processors as directed.
• Participates in TIME OUT and procedure validation with the team.
• Checks schedule each morning and prepares rooms and materials accordingly.
