Job summary

Northwestern Medicine's 12E GI Surgical Oncology unit seeks a Clinical Nurse to provide evidence-based nursing care for complex post-surgical patients. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and participates in planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.

You will advance professional growth through LEAD and quality committees, uphold ethical standards, and support patient advocacy while delivering exceptional outcomes on a high-acuity unit in Chicago.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.
  • Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR through American Heart Association.
  • Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative).
  • Oral, listening and written communication skills.
  • Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations.
  • Use of a keyboard to enter or retrieve data.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based nursing care for post-surgical patients on the GI Surgical Oncology unit.
  • Participate in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate advocacy and patient-centered care throughout the care continuum.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure safe patient flow and quality outcomes.
  • Take part in unit quality committees and professional development opportunities.

NLN-accredited nursing program
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher
