Job summary

Srimatrix Health is seeking a GI-focused Registered Nurse (RN) for the Chicago, IL area to support pre-, intra-, and post-operative GI care. The role emphasizes collaboration with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient outcomes.

The GI RN will assess needs, plan care, and monitor patients through procedures and recovery, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Active RN license in Illinois.
• CPR certification (current).
• ACLS certification preferred (required for critical care and ER).
• PALS certification required for ER and Pediatrics.
• NRP certification required for Special Care Nursery.
• Ability to recognize changes in condition and respond with appropriate interventions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care for patients undergoing GI surgeries and procedures.
• Assess, diagnose, and identify patient needs to determine care plans for GI patients.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans with surgeons and team.
• Supervise and direct nursing care activities per standards and protocols.
• Educate patients and families on pre- and post-procedure GI care.
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes to ensure safety.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document interventions.
• Administer medications and procedures per established protocols.
• Collaborate with gastroenterology team to ensure timely procedures.
• Participate in quality improvements to enhance patient care.
