Job summary

Borland Groover in Saint Augustine, FL, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support gastroenterology care under the provider's direction. This role focuses on direct and indirect patient care, patient education, and ensuring smooth clinic flow in a fast-paced specialty practice.

You will room patients, take vitals, assist with exams, administer vaccines, manage triage calls, process referrals, and document in the EHR.

Qualifications

• Active CMA certification preferred but not required.
• 1 year of patient-facing experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 90 days or earlier.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, record vitals, history, meds, and allergies.
• Own the patient experience and assist with flow.
• Pre-check charts and ensure results/records are present.
• Assist providers with examinations as needed.
• Administer vaccines per provider orders.
• Answer phones, take messages, and triage as needed.
• Review med and diet instructions with patients.
• Process referrals to other physicians (surgery, etc.).
• Document education and PAQ tasks in the EHR.
• Process prescription refills and authorizations.
• Cover other clinical team members and travel to other offices.
