Job summary

The GI Technician at Presbyterian Healthcare Services provides technical support to physicians in the GI lab and assists patients undergoing GI procedures. You will set up equipment, maintain aseptic technique, and assist with monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures while ensuring safety and high-quality care.

Responsibilities include handling specimens, reprocessing endoscopes, and staying current on equipment, procedures, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year customer service experience required, hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Experience or training in GI Lab procedure room setting is preferred, but not required. Receives on the job training and competency verification to perform primary functions.
  • BLS required.

Summary

The GI Technician is responsible for the technical support to physicians in the GI lab and related assistance to patients undergoing GI Lab procedures. Responsible to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsible for setting up equipment and supplies for GI cases along with cleaning and high-level disinfection of endoscopes and accessories. Assist and inform physicians and nurses of relevant information. Demonstrate competency, efficiency, and leadership in performing basic endoscopic procedures and in applying new technology.

  • Assist in taking patient vital signs and reporting them to nursing staff
  • Assist in recovery room with ambulating patients, cleaning soiled stretchers, and dressing cleaned stretchers
Qualifications
