Job summary

United Digestive in Woodstock, IL is seeking staff to support GI lab procedures under RN supervision. You will assist with direct patient care, set up equipment, and help with specimen handling while maintaining accurate documentation and infection control standards.

The role requires following procedural instructions, communicating clearly with patients and staff, and supporting admitted patients through pre- and post-procedure steps in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• RN, LPN, Certified Medical Assistant or the equivalent.
• Able to follow written and verbal direction regarding patient care procedures.
• Willingness to expand range of skills to include minor procedures and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of direct nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Sets up appropriate equipment for procedures and ensures necessary supplies are available.
• Assist physician with procedure. Collects, prepares and label specimen accurately.
• Explain procedures and expected sensations to patient and provide instructions to ensure patient cooperation and to minimize discomfort.
• Takes and record vital signs. Place blood pressure cuff, sensor for pulse oximeter, ECG leads, nasal cannula and grounding pad.
• Reports patient findings/observations to supervisor or RN.
• Documents on all forms/computer as required.
