Job summary

Loyola Medicine is seeking a dedicated GI Lab Technician in Maywood, IL to support endoscopic procedures, patient care, and endoscope reprocessing. The role includes assisting physicians and RNs, preparing rooms, and transporting patients through pre- and post-procedure stages.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, monitoring equipment support under RN supervision, ensuring PPE and safety protocols, and maintaining cleanliness of procedure areas.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Required: 1–2 years of healthcare or clinical experience.
• Required: CPR certification.
• Preferred: SGNA Gastroenterology Technical Specialist (SGNA).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, ensuring PPE usage and cleaning.
• Assist during endoscopic procedures, including specimen handling and patient transport.
• Support pre- and post-procedure care and cart preparation.
• Perform endoscope pre-cleaning, manual cleaning, and high-level disinfection.
• Stock supplies and assist with transporting equipment and specimens.
• Uphold patient safety standards and participate in quality improvement.
