Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an Endoscopy/GI Support Tech to assist physicians during procedures, provide patient care, and help prepare rooms for endoscopic cases. The role includes vitals documentation, oxygen therapy support, and ensuring equipment readiness in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Surgical or GI Technology training preferred.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
• SGNA GI Associates Program must be completed within 6 months of employment.
• Must maintain 6 educational contact hours annually in the GI field.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians with Endoscopic procedures.
• Performs personal care for patient comfort and well-being, including bedpan assistance, ambulation, transfers, and escorts.
• Sets up rooms for procedures and manages supplies.
• Cleans endoscopes by sterilization or high-level disinfection.
• Assists with oxygen therapy and maintains safety of equipment.
• Performs vital signs and documents in the medical record.
