Job summary

The VA Central Iowa Healthcare System is recruiting a full-time Advanced Practice Nurse in Gastroenterology to provide advanced clinical practice within the Gastroenterology/Hepatology Service, emphasizing quality and timeliness to support the VA mission. Major duties include expert GI consultation, comprehensive patient evaluations, development of individualized treatment plans, and patient education.

Occasional travel to Community Based Outpatient Clinics and participation in multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• APN with advanced clinical practice in GI/Hepatology
• Board certification and state license required for advanced practice nurses
• Ability to provide expert consultation and patient management in GI conditions

Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with GI conditions
• Perform comprehensive evaluations including history, exams, and ordering diagnostic labs/tests
• Develop and implement individualized GI treatment plans and educate patients and families
• Coordinate with other providers for integrated care and participate in team meetings
• Maintain timely documentation in electronic medical records and may travel to clinics as needed
• Ensure compliance with VA policies and participate in quality improvement and scholarly activities
