Job summary

Ocean Conservancy seeks a Ghost Gear Communications Strategist to develop and begin implementing a communications strategy on ghost gear, the deadliest form of debris to marine life. The role will produce foundational materials, content, and a public footprint for the next five to ten years and draft a brand guide to align Ocean Conservancy with the Global Ghost Gear Initiative.

The Strategist will report to the Vice President, Strategic Communications and collaborate with the ghost gear program

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in digital or communications strategy, with a proven track record of developing and launching campaigns.
• Proven ability to produce compelling content across formats: social, long-form, video scripts, email and campaign copy.
• Strong writing and editing skills with adaptable voice across audiences and channels.
• Proven track record of securing media coverage. Nonprofit experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of ghost gear and Ocean Conservancy’s work in this area.
• Create foundational materials and content for ghost gear, including core messaging, two-pagers, social-ready video, evergreen posts, and media lists.
