Job summary

Oceana is seeking a Communications Intern in Washington, DC to support the Global Marketing and Communications team. The role focuses on tracking and circulating press coverage in the United States and internationally, conducting media research, building media lists, and drafting communications materials.

Ideal candidates are recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field, and are eager to contribute to ocean conservation efforts

Qualifications

• College student or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Track and report press coverage for Oceana’s U.S. and international campaigns.
• Produce regular coverage reports summarizing global media hits.
• Draft media reports for Oceana’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
• Maintain and update media lists for Oceana’s U.S. and international campaigns.
• Draft and edit materials for the Global Marketing and Communications department, including blog posts, pitches, press releases, social media posts, and more.
• Conduct media research and other tasks for the communications team as needed.
