Mercor is seeking experienced German Linguistic Experts to join a cutting-edge AI research project conducted in partnership with a leading research lab. You will evaluate how effectively a large language model performs in German-language tasks and curate high-quality German linguistic data to improve model understanding and generation.

The role requires native or near-native German, experience in translation/editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work, and keen attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate the quality and accuracy of LLM-generated German text across various use cases (e.g., translation, summarization, dialogue, grammar correction).
• Edit, refine, or rewrite German content to meet linguistic and cultural standards.
• Annotate German text for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features.
• Identify model errors and language gaps, and collaborate with AI researchers to improve LLM performance.
• Provide detailed linguistic feedback and analysis to guide ongoing model training efforts.

You're a strong fit if you have:

• Native or near-native fluency in German, with excellent command over grammar, syntax, and stylistics.
• Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work in German.
• Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, regional variations, and context-appropriate usage.
• Interest in AI and LLM-driven language technologies (preferred but not required).
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot subtle errors or unnatural phrasing.
• Clear communication skills and experience working in distributed, remote teams.
