Job summary

Emerald Healthcare in Woodmere, NY seeks a compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders in a geriatric population. The SLP will work within an interdisciplinary Rehab team to enhance resident communication and quality of life.

The role emphasizes individualized treatment plans, collaboration with nurses and physicians, and adherence to regulatory standards in a skilled nursing setting. A NY license and CCC-SLP are preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New York (preferred).
• CCC-SLP certification from ASHA (preferred).
• Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with residents, families, and teams.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments and resident needs.
• Provide therapy and monitor progress to improve communication and swallowing.
• Adapt techniques to meet each resident’s goals.
• Document progress, prepare reports, and communicate with interdisciplinary team and families.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and therapists to coordinate holistic care.
• Educate residents, families, and staff on speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
• Ensure compliance with facility policies and state/federal regulations.
