Job summary

Ascend Medical in Snellville, GA is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for our geriatric psychiatry practice. You will prepare patients, support in-person and telehealth visits, and coordinate Creyos cognitive testing and TMS procedures.

The role involves extensive patient communication, care coordination with families, and adherence to HIPAA policies. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, Medical Assistant training, and comfort with EHR systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant education, training, or relevant medical-office experience.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and follow-through skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable with older adults, caregivers and family.
• Basic computer proficiency; ability to learn EHR, cognitive testing, and TMS systems.
• HIPAA confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for appointments, obtain vital signs, update medications, allergies, and medical history, and perform medication reconciliation utilizing the practice's EHR.
• Facilitate in-office and telehealth consultations with pre-visit chart review and ensure equipment is operable.
• Prepare patients for examinations, assist with referrals, and explain procedures to patients and caregivers in a dementia-friendly manner.
• Coordinate Creyos cognitive testing: scheduling, prep, guidance, and documentation for provider review.
• Assist with TMS program: scheduling, intake, insurance verification, authorizations, and documentation.
• Coordinate transitions of care across hospitals, rehab, and home health; ensure follow-up and care plans.
