Job summary
The Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, Loch Raven VAMC is seeking a Geriatric Extended Care Nursing Assistant to support licensed nursing staff and provide direct care to Veterans with physical and behavioral health needs. The NA works under supervision in preventive, acute, sub-acute, chronic, maintenance, and hospice settings.

Qualifications
- Six months of general experience required.
- One year of education above high school with nursing care courses.
- Completion of a short NA training program may meet experience.
- English language proficiency per VA standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop skills to participate in assessing, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
- Perform duties under close supervision with appropriate training.
- Utilize glucose monitoring device and report deviations to staff.
- Provide direct care for Veterans; observe and report changes in condition.
- Document care and observations; respond to changes by contacting nursing staff.
- Administer basic care procedures and monitor intake/output.
- Support treatment planning meetings and assist with patient self-care.
- Offer mentorship and orientation to other NAs; maintain a safe environment.
