Job summary

The Geriatric Extended Care (GEC) Nursing Assistant at Loch Raven VAMC supports licensed nursing staff in a wide range of nursing care for Veterans with physical and behavioral health needs. The NA helps with daily living activities, monitoring, and documenting patient status in collaboration with the care team.

Applicants must meet basic nursing assistant requirements and be proficient in English. This civilian role emphasizes safety, dignity, and compassionate care in a GA-03 to GA-05 level

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience or education or training related to nursing assistant work.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care to Veterans, including activities of daily living under supervision.
• Assist licensed nursing staff in preventive, acute, sub-acute, chronic, maintenance, and hospice care.
• Monitor patient comfort, safety, and well-being and report observations to supervisors.
