Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Nursing Assistant to develop basic nursing skills and provide care to patients/residents with acute to chronic conditions in a health care setting at the Reno facility.

Key duties include maintaining therapeutic relationships, reporting observations to RNs, assisting with patient orientation, and ensuring safety and proper use of equipment. Prior long-term care experience is preferred; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Long term care facility experience as a nursing assistant is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains positive therapeutic relationships by displaying respect for human dignity with patients and families.
• Reports patient observations to the RN and other members of the treatment team.
• Organizes and obtains routine supplies and equipment.
• Assist with orienting patient and family to unit routines and policies.
• Demonstrates proper use of patient care equipment and safety practices.
