Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Older Adult/Geriatric Medicine unit at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. Schedule options are 24 or 36 hours per week, 6:45am–7:15pm, with duties spanning patient hygiene, comfort, transport, and monitoring under supervision.

The role emphasizes documentation, patient safety, and teamwork within a busy hospital setting; sign-on bonuses, shift differentials, tuition assistance, and parking are available where eligible.

Qualifications

• Completion of the 75-hour state approved Nurse Assistant course or 6 months Nurse Assistant experience required.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Current BLS certification strongly preferred and must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions, follow schedules, and communicate information.
• Must be able to collect, record, and report patient needs to the appropriate caregiver.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and participates in ongoing education programs.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care and supports hygiene and daily living needs.
• Maintains patient comfort, safety, and timely communication with the health care team.
• Documents data in Cerner/worksheets accurately and timely.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and stocked; manages supplies and equipment.
• Responds to call lights promptly and assists with transportation and activities of daily living.
• Assists with exam room preparation and infection control procedures.
• Supports front desk tasks as needed and assists with scheduling and messaging.
