Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration's Martinez VA Medical Center seeks a CLC Medical Director to provide administrative and clinical leadership for the Community Living Center. You will oversee day-to-day operations, mentor physicians and nurse practitioners, drive quality improvement, and collaborate on admissions and staffing to deliver high-quality geriatric and post-acute care.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required; non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
• MD/DO degree from an approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in US/DC.
• Residency in an ACGME/AOA approved core specialty with board eligibility.
• Board certification or eligibility in geriatrics preferred.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Experience in post-acute/long-term care leadership preferred.
• Annual Employee Health requirements required.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and clinical leadership to CLC staff.
• Oversee day-to-day operations across CLC units.
• Ensure safe, timely, and effective care delivery.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and program expansion.
• Coordinate admissions with the Admissions Coordinator to optimize bed utilization.
• Act as educational contact for medical students, residents and fellows.
• Engage in peer review, M&M, survey readiness and accreditation activities.
• Lead interdisciplinary team huddles, conferences and committees.
