Job summary

Horizon Health together with Murray Calloway is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support the inpatient Behavioral Health unit in Murray, KY. The role involves assisting with patient care on a 12-bed geriatric unit under supervision, recording observations, and ensuring safety and comfort for residents.

The MHT works day shift (7am-7pm) on a full-time basis, with a focus on compassion, teamwork and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• 1–3 years of experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Crisis prevention experience.
• Ability to manage anger, fear, hostility and aggression in others.
• Ability to manage stress appropriately.
• Proficient in applicable software applications.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Team player with ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Attend to patient personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring).
• Escort and monitor patients during admissions, transfers and discharges; provide line-of-sight or 1:1 support.
• Regularly observe and record patients’ behaviors, vitals, and weight.
• Conduct therapies in accordance with patient’s diagnosis and needs.
• Check and document luggage and personal belongings; maintain patient property list.
• Perform clerical duties (charts, forms, filing, supplies).
• Monitor and document patient’s food and fluid intake; assist with feeding.
• Complete 15 minute visual checks as required.
• Ensure dignity and provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
