Job summary

Eaton County Health & Rehabilitation Services seeks a food service assistant for a nursing home setting. You will prepare, deliver, and retrieve resident meals, while ensuring safety, sanitation, and quality standards in daily operations.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, regular standing, and adaptability to routine changes. High school diploma or equivalent is required, with previous health-care food service experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have genuine interest in geriatrics and serving food for residents with high standards of quality.
• Ability to follow instructions, organize time and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes in routine.

Responsibilities

• Handle and serve resident's food in a safe, comfortable manner following sanitary regulations and facility routines.
• Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, dishes, and utensils per policy.
• Prepare, deliver, and pick up resident food trays maintaining meal schedules and sanitary standards.
• Assist with department cleaning and stocking of supplies as directed by the Director.
• May provide assistance in all dietary functions during emergencies or as needed.
• Avoid food waste where possible and label food with shelf life checks to prevent spoilage.
• Report equipment and structural observations to supervisor.
• Maintain clean, safe working area in compliance with sanitation requirements.
• Perform other duties as required by the Director.
