Job summary

CommonSail Investment Group in Iowa is seeking a Universal Caregiver to provide compassionate, person-centered assistance for residents in our community. You will support residents with daily activities, hygiene, dining, mobility and safety according to care plans and Resident Bill of Rights.

This role requires endurance, empathy, and adherence to infection control; standing for long periods, teamwork with the care staff, and respecting residents' dignity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, geriatrics, or elderly care preferred.
• Must score 85 on Skills Test.
• Desire to work with geriatric population essential.
• Caregiver Certification at Directed Care Level (AZ only).
• Training per state requirements.
• Must have CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must have a TB clearance.

Responsibilities

• Bathe and clean residents as needed.
• Assist with grooming, nails, and personal care.
• Assist residents with dressing.
• Make beds and keep rooms tidy.
• Assist with dining and feeding for residents needing help.
• Follow medication administration protocols as identified for each resident.
• Respond to emergency calls promptly.
• Assist with bedpan, urinal, and bathroom needs and monitor continence.
• Record vital signs and report any changes to nurse or director.
• Transport residents and assist with mobility and ROM as required.
• Maintain resident dignity and privacy per Resident Bill of Rights.
• Participate in activity programming and daily care routines.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Complete daily assignment sheets using approved abbreviations.
• Follow universal precautions and infection control.
• Maintain cleanliness of all service areas and equipment.
• Report accidents, abuse, or unusual incidents.
• Assist with meal service and kitchen duties as needed.
