Job summary

Independence Village of Waukee seeks a caring Caregiver/Medication Manager to provide personal assistance to residents and oversee medication administration. You will support daily living activities and help maintain residents’ comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include bathing, grooming, charting vital signs, following med protocols, and reporting changes to the nurse or Executive Director. CPR/First Aid certification is required or obtainable on-site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to obtain Medication Manager certification on-site.
• Previous Healthcare, Geriatrics or experience working with the elderly population preferred.
• Desire to work with geriatric population.
• Training per state requirements
• Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Bathe and clean residents as needed.
• Follow medication administration protocols as identified for each resident.
• Assist in grooming of residents (teeth, hair, nails, makeup, shaving).
• Make beds and change linens, clean rooms.
• Answer emergency calls promptly.
• Assist residents with bedpan, urinal, or bathroom as needed; monitor continence.
• Record vital signs and report abnormalities.
• Assist with mobility and transfers and daily living activities.
• Maintain privacy and dignity; follow Resident Bill of Rights.
• Provide and participate in activity programming and care activities.
• Assist in admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
• Complete Daily Assignment sheets as instructed.
