Job summary

Garden Healthcare in New York is seeking a dedicated registered nurse with strong leadership to oversee clinical care and ensure quality standards across the nursing team. The role emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary staff, adherence to regulatory guidelines, and proactive care planning for residents.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, coordinating with LPNs/CNAs, managing medication administration and reporting, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• RN License to practice in NYS.
• Clinical competence and strong leadership skills.
• Understanding of the aging process.
• Ability to be self-directive in delegated areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain and interpret standards of nursing practice.
• Perform assessment and intervention according to guidelines and procedures.
• Participate in interdisciplinary committees influencing nursing policy.
• Follow procedures for admissions/transfers and documentation per guidelines.
• Round on resident rooms; ensure reports, assignments and breaks are managed.
• Assist LPNs in establishing routines for high nursing practice.
• Receive/give shift reports and coordinate with team.
• Count/verify controlled drugs across shifts.
• Develop care plans addressing resident needs and revise as needed.
• Ensure care plans reflect priorities and outcomes.
• Monitor resident care on assigned unit and report observations.
• Interpret nursing philosophy to residents and families.
• Identify learning needs and provide discharge teaching.
• Coordinate with care team and document medication administration.
• Notify physicians of pertinent observations and test results.
• Transcribe orders timely and ensure implementation.
• Report accidents and process incident reports.
• Maintain stock levels of medications and supplies.
• Assume authority over nursing shifts; perform other duties as directed.
