Job summary

North Alabama Shoals Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team on a 3 x 12-hour shift schedule. The role includes basic patient care under an RN, vital signs, ADL support, and clean, safe rooms, with documentation and collaboration across the unit.

Qualifications

• Geriatric experience preferred, especially in long-term care or acute settings.
• PCA/DCA, SRNA, or EMT experience preferred but not required.
• Current BLS certification required or obtainable after hire.
• Handle with care training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and intake/output.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observes and reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
• Documents care and activities per unit standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.
