Job summary

Shrewsbury Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking an energetic Activity Assistant to support the Director of Activities in planning and directing quality activities for residents. The role emphasizes recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social engagement aligned with Life Care standards.

Responsibilities include documenting patient progress, escorting residents, and participating in team-based care.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
• Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Must implement and interpret the programs, goals, policies, and procedures of the department.
• Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including patient rights, safety and sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs.
• Chart patient progress and behavior descriptively.
• Escort patients to and from activities.
• Make regular in-room visits to patients who are uninterested or unable to participate.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients.
• Assist in evacuation of patients.
• Maintain dependable, regular attendance.
• Communicate and function on an interdisciplinary team.
• Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, and move intermittently during working hours.
