Job summary

Shrewsbury Rehabilitation and Nursing at Southgate seeks a dedicated Recreation Assistant to plan, organize, and direct quality activities for patients, addressing recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs.

You will assist in developing programs, chart patient progress, escort patients to activities, and engage those unable to participate in group activities while maintaining a positive, patient-centered attitude.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior geriatrics experience preferred.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Ability to implement and interpret department programs, goals, policies and procedures.
• Competency in patient rights, safety and sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating activity programs (entertainment, exercise, relaxation, education).
• Chart patient progress and behavior clearly and accurately.
• Escort patients to and from activities.
• Conduct in-room visits to those unable or uninterested in group activities.
• Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude toward patients.
• Assist in evacuations and maintain regular attendance.
• Demonstrate dependability, good judgment, and teamwork.
