Job summary

Brightcore Energy seeks a Geothermal Innovation Engineer to own engineering analysis across the innovation roadmap, from feasibility to prototype to scale-up. You will design novel geothermal heating and cooling solutions, run TEAs, and lead prototyping efforts within the Geothermal unit.

You will translate findings into PRDs, support pilots and initial customer engagements, and collaborate across the Innovation team and design/BD colleagues. Strong modeling, coding, and AI literacy are valued.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years in HVAC, data center design & operation, hydronic, geothermal, or mission-critical mechanical design and analysis.
• Strong grounding in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics; comfort reasoning through equipment performance metrics.
• Working proficiency with energy/load modeling tools (e.g., TRNSYS, EnergyPlus, HAP, or equivalent) and Excel-based models.
• Ability to carry ambiguous concept work from first-light feasibility to product requirement with minimal supervision.
• Fluent with AI tools.
• Ability to do basic coding in python or learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative geothermal heating and cooling solutions with detailed HVAC and geothermal modeling.
• Analyze heat transfer and fluid dynamics; evaluate COP, EER, and related performance metrics.
• Serve as the go-to technical resource across the Innovation team for geothermal engineering questions.
• Evaluate feasibility and customer value for new roadmap items; develop TEA and initial concepts.
• Lead prototyping from desktop TEA models to lab prototypes and tests.
• Translate engineering analysis into PRDs and technical collateral for pilots.
• Support customer engagements and eventual product rollout as items mature.
