Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, Inc. in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a Summer Intern to contribute to a team of professionals on a variety of projects.

You will work with senior staff, gain hands-on exposure to field testing and documentation, and help support the early formation of your professional career. Level 1 or Level 2 interns participate in field tasks and office assignments, with assignment to soils, aggregates, concrete and other materials.

Qualifications

• Must have reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift/move up to 60–80 pounds.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Civil Engineer (Geotechnical) students preferred; other Geology or Engineering disciplines encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field observations, sampling and testing of construction materials.
• Documentation of results in clear, concise reports.
• Support field tasks for soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt and structural steel placement.
• Collaborate with professionals in office and field settings.
