Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) seeks an experienced Department Manager for Geotechnical Services in the Charlotte area. The role leads the department, drives profitability, mentors staff, and grows BLE’s local geotechnical practice through client relationships and strategic initiatives.

As BLE is an employee-owned firm, the leader will balance technical excellence with financial stewardship, business development, and high standards of client service to sustain growth and client satisfaction

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree geotechnical emphasis preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 8+ years of progressive geotechnical/geostructural engineering experience including leadership and business development.
• Strong knowledge of regional geology, subsurface exploration, analysis, and design in the Charlotte area.
• Established relationships in Charlotte metro area preferred.
• Experience managing project financial performance and department budgets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the department's business development strategy with BLE leadership.
• Lead department staff and manage P&L performance.
• Recruit, mentor and retain a high-performing geotechnical team.
• Oversee projects from proposal to delivery ensuring quality and client satisfaction.
• Lead QA/QC, and provide technical guidance to staff.
• Build and nurture client relationships and pursue new consulting opportunities.
• Represent BLE at professional organizations and industry events.
