Job summary

Intertek’s Building & Construction team in Charlotte, NC seeks a Geotechnical Engineering Project Manager to lead geotechnical investigations and project management on local and regional projects. You’ll supervise staff, manage scopes, budgets, and schedules, and develop client relationships to drive new opportunities.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, 5+ years of CM testing/geotech leadership, NC PE or ability to obtain, and

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of Construction Materials Testing & Geotechnical Engineering operations.
• 5+ years of leadership, management, and/or project management experience in CM testing & geotech.
• North Carolina P.E. license or ability to obtain in residence state and adjacent states.
• Business development & project proposal creation/management.
• Prior personnel management, hiring and training experience.
• P&L responsibilities management.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and understand work plans.
• Willing to work off shift and overtime; travel up to 25%.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent evaluations using standard techniques, procedures and criteria with minor adaptations.
• Prepare and review engineering reports, project plans and specifications.
• Assign, track, and manage work/tasks to staff.
• Prepare scopes, budgets, task orders, and schedules for project tasks.
• Prepare proposals to provide professional services.
• Review recommendations with Professional Engineers, Senior PMs & Principal Consultants.
• Maintain client relationships to develop new project opportunities.
• Attend client site meetings and communicate with client/project teams.
• Work on one or multiple projects at a time.
• Train Technicians and other technical staff.
• May perform on-site observations, sample collection, and tests.
• Work both in field and laboratory; adhere to safety practices.
