Job summary

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to join our San Diego, CA team. This full-time position blends field assignments with office work, leading portions of technical projects under senior guidance.

You will perform geotechnical investigations, data evaluation, and design while mentoring junior staff. Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience, strong reporting skills, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant design experience in seismic, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, ground improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to write technical reports to meet project requirements.
• Able to work independently on individual tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Desire to learn and grow, with a positive attitude and ownership.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plaxis 3D, FLAC 3D or similar geotechnical analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Split time between field assignments and office work.
• Lead portions of technical project work from scope to deliverables under senior staff guidance.
• Apply academic and industry knowledge to execute project tasks.
• Provide training, guidance, and informal mentoring to junior staff.
• Participate in communications with clients, agencies, and internal teams.
• Plan, perform and oversee geotechnical investigations, evaluations, data summarization, and design.
• Conduct basic construction observation, quality control, and field-testing tasks.
• Prepare and maintain documentation of activities in the field and during data evaluation.
