Job summary

NV5 delivers technology-enabled engineering, consulting, and geospatial solutions for infrastructure, buildings, utilities, and environmental systems. The Project Engineer will lead a multidisciplinary team of inspectors and technicians and manage projects with geotechnical budgets.

Requirements include an Engineeing in Training status or the ability to obtain EIT within 6 months, a BS in civil engineering, and a CA PE license or plan to obtain within 6–12 months.

Qualifications

• BS in civil engineering with emphasis in materials/geotechnical preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• CA PE License or ability to obtain within 6–12 months.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and solve problems.
• Experience reviewing technical specifications and field/lab reports.
• Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards.
• Experience with AASHTO and ASTM test methods for construction materials.
• Experience reviewing concrete/asphalt mix designs.
• Understanding accreditation policies for relevant agencies (AMRL, CCRL, IAS).
• Proficiency in MS Office and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages special inspectors and technician staff.
• Manages projects (bridges, roadway, schools, commercial) and geotechnical budgets.
• Prepares and reviews inspection and observation reports for agencies and clients.
• Oversees soils and foundation characterization work.
• Plans, assigns, evaluates, and reviews work of staff for quality and timeliness.
• Oversees timely reporting and record maintenance.
• Develops policies and programs for special inspection and testing.
• Communicates changes in guidelines and regulations; monitors billings vs. budget.
• Oversees laboratory qualifications and materials testing.
• Oversees IBC Special Inspections per IBC Chapter 17.
• Travel as needed; maintain a good driving record.
