Job summary

Actalent in Bear, DE is seeking a Geotechnical Technician / Inspector to support construction projects with field inspections, materials testing, and QA activities. This field-based role requires travel to active sites and working outdoors to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.

You will perform soil density testing, concrete testing, earthwork and foundation inspections, and prepare detailed field reports, coordinating with project teams and office staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction inspection, geotechnical testing, or related field services.
  • Experience with: Soil density testing, Earthwork inspection, Foundation and subgrade inspections, Concrete testing, Roadway construction inspection.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification, or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
  • ACI Concrete Testing Certification, or ability to obtain shortly after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical inspections and testing during construction projects

Overview

We are seeking a Geotechnical Technician / Inspector to support construction projects through field inspections, materials testing, and quality assurance activities. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy working outdoors, traveling to active construction sites, and playing a critical role in ensuring projects meet engineering specifications and industry standards.

This is a field-based opportunity supporting geotechnical investigations, earthwork monitoring, construction materials testing, and special inspections throughout the region.

Qualifications

Required:

Work Environment

  • Primarily field-based position

  • Daily travel to active construction sites

  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions year-round

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 40 pounds

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bear, DE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
