Job summary

Langan is seeking an entry-level Geotechnical and Modeling Engineer to join our team in New York City. The role supports planning and execution of field investigations, monitors earthwork construction, and contributes to geotechnical reports on major projects.

The position offers hands-on field experience, opportunities to work with 2D/3D finite element analyses, and collaboration across a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic urban environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; geotechnical emphasis preferred.
• Entry to 3 years of work experience.
• Minimum GPA of 3.5.
• EIT Certification or FE exam registration.
• Experience with Plaxis and DeepEx preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and multitasking abilities.
• Willingness to spend majority of work hours in the field.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and recording data.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities; monitor conformance with construction documents.
• Identify and implement solutions to field and/or laboratory problems.
• Prepare logs and field forms, including drilling and test pit logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs.
• Review Foundation, Structural, and SOC drawings and derive geometry and properties for finite element analyses.
• Perform 2D and 3D finite element analyses.
• Prepare data plots for presentations and technical reports.
• Accurately document and communicate issues to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as requested.
