Job summary

Langan is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join its collaborative team in New York, New York. This role supports planning and execution of field investigations, monitoring foundation and earthwork construction, and preparing logs and reports for large-scale projects.

You will analyze geotechnical problems and assist in preparing geotechnical reports, contributing to high-profile projects while growing your professional skillset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering is required; a Master’s with Geotechnical specialty is preferred.
• 1+ years of work-related geotechnical experience.
• EIT Certification, or current FE exam registration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment abilities.
• Willingness to spend the majority of work hours in the field.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, and recording data.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction; monitor conformance with documents.
• Identify and implement solutions to field and laboratory problems.
• Prepare logs and field forms such as drilling/test pit logs and daily field reports.
• Conduct site reconnaissance, data reviews, and document searches.
• Communicate findings to supervisor and participate in project discussions.
• Perform additional duties as required.
