Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for our Delta Junction operation. Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will manage geotechnical risks to safely achieve production targets on a 15/13 rotation at a remote site.

Responsibilities include establishing site systems, reviewing mine designs, updating GCMPs, performing risk assessments, and training graduates. Must have 2+ years in underground hard rock geotechnical engineering, strong reporting skills,

Qualifications

Degree majoring in Mining Engineering or in an equivalent field.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, across all levels.
Current Driver’s License.
Able to pass a background check and post-offer physical.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain site systems and standards to manage geotechnical risks, including procedures and databases.
Review development mining instructions and stope designs and provide safety recommendations for extraction.
Ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
Review and update Ground Control Management Plans (GCMP) regularly.
Carry out geotechnical evaluations, risk assessments and make recommendations to manage hazards.
Collect and analyse geotechnical data for rockfall events.
Provide support, guidance, and development opportunities to junior engineers.
Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of geotechnical parameters.
