Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, a 100% ESOP firm, seeks a Project Manager in our Northern New Jersey office. You will oversee construction materials testing for commercial and residential land development, coordinating earthwork, concrete, foundation, and pavement testing and supervising technician staff.

You will prepare bids, attend pre-bid meetings, conduct on-site inspections, meet clients, and support the Branch Manager to drive successful operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or geology is preferred.
• 3–5 years of field or project management experience in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, or construction project management.
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a construction project backlog between $1-3 million.
• Experience estimating labor requirements for various types of construction projects.
• Some business development experience and ability to interact with clients.
• Experience managing construction/field staff is a plus.
• Specialty construction testing certifications (ACI, NECEPT, ICC) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing services for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Conduct efficient on-site inspections including soil bearing and compaction, concrete, and steel inspections.
• Meet with clients and attend site meetings; assist the Branch Manager in running a successful operation.
