Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) is seeking a Staff Associate to join our geotechnical team in a field- and laboratory-based role. The position supports testing of construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates, including sample collection and result documentation.

This entry-level opportunity emphasizes hands-on experience in construction materials testing, with travel to project sites and collaboration with senior staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or coursework is a plus.
• 0–2 years of experience in construction, materials testing, or related field.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with project specifications.
• Collect samples of concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates for laboratory testing.
• Perform basic laboratory tests under the supervision of senior staff.
• Accurately document field activities, test results, and observations.
• Operate and maintain testing equipment in accordance with company standards.
• Follow safety protocols and report any safety concerns immediately.
• Communicate professionally with contractors, site personnel, and team members.
• Support senior technicians and engineers with data entry and report preparation.
• Travel to project sites using company-provided transportation.
