Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Lead Engineer to join our Power and Renewables teams. The role involves leading geotechnical investigations and design for renewable energy projects, substations, and transmission lines, with emphasis on mentoring junior staff and coordinating field/lab work.

The position requires strong geotechnical knowledge, FP.E. license, and at least five years of related experience; travel to field sites may be required and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/geotechnical engineering from an ABET-accredited college; Master's degree a plus.
• PE license required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals and cost estimates for geotechnical investigations and related design work.
• Participate in geotechnical site investigations, assign lab tests, analyze data, and prepare reports.
• Interpret geotechnical data to determine material characteristics and engineering properties.
• Perform analyses including bearing capacity, settlement, stiffness, liquefaction, seepage, and slope stability.
• Manage, supervise, mentor, and train geotechnical staff and foster teamwork.
