Job summary

Westwood Professional Services in Wisconsin is seeking a Geotechnical Intern to join our engineering team supporting subsurface investigations and foundation design for renewable energy projects. This role offers hands-on exposure to industry standards and real-world infrastructure challenges.

You will assist senior engineers with logging soil borings, laboratory testing, and geotechnical report preparation, gaining experience with LPILE, Settle3, and gINT in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in ABET-accredited undergrad engineering program, preferably Civil with Geotechnical emphasis.
• Effective verbal and written communication, professional client interaction.
• Willingness to learn in a cross-disciplinary environment and attend site Visits.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist field subsurface investigations: soil boring logging, CPT, and test pit observation.
• Support laboratory soil testing under guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Help develop foundation design recommendations using LPILE/Settle3.
• Prepare geotechnical data reports and boring logs with gINT.
• Coordinate with team across renewable energy projects; travel to sites as needed.
