Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a Geotechnical Intern to support subsurface investigations and foundation design for wind, solar, and BESS projects. You will assist in logging borings, lab testing, and preparing geotechnical reports under senior engineers’ guidance.

The role offers exposure to ASTM, ASCE, and IBC standards, with opportunities to work on diverse renewables sites and travel to project locations. ABET-accredited student in geotechnical-focused civil engineering preferred.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil with a Geotechnical emphasis.
• Effective verbal and written communication with clients, management, and design teams.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and work in outdoor field conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field subsurface investigations, including soil boring logging and field observations.
• Support laboratory soil testing under supervision of Senior Engineers.
• Help develop foundation design recommendations for renewables using tools like LPILE and Settle3.
• Prepare geotechnical data reports and boring logs using gINT.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams across projects to ensure progress.
• Travel to project sites to observe field investigations and interface with crews and clients.
