Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Geotechnical Intern to support subsurface investigations and foundation design for wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects. You’ll help logging soil borings, lab testing, and drafting geotechnical reports under senior engineers.

Applicants should be pursuing an ABET-accredited engineering degree with geotechnical emphasis, possess a valid driver's license, and be willing to travel to project sites. Proficiency in MS Office is required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program (preferably civil with geotechnical emphasis).
• Effective verbal and written communication with clients and team members.
• Willingness to attend site visits and work outdoors at active drilling sites.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist field subsurface investigations: soil boring logging, CPT, and test pit observation.
• Support laboratory soil testing under supervision of Senior Engineers.
• Help develop foundation design recommendations for renewable energy foundations using tools such as LPILE and Settle3.
• Assist in preparing geotechnical data reports and boring logs using gINT.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams across projects to ensure progress.
